St. James Parish on Monday evening issued a boil-water advisory for District 5, the northern section of the parish.
The advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday for west bank residents along La. 18 starting at Waguespack Welding and Manufacturing and ending near the Lemonville community, St. James Parish spokesman Brandon Keller said in a news release.
The Lemonville community is located near the St. James-Ascension parish line, said Eric Deroche, director of emergency preparedness for St. James Parish.
Keller said the boil-water advisory is due to an accident on La. 18 and the replacement of a fire hydrant.
Affected residents should boil their water before bathing, drinking, brushing their teeth or consuming the water in any way, Keller said.
The broken line was expected to be repaired by 7 p.m. Monday, he said. If further assistance is needed, call the St. James Parish Utilities office at (225) 562-2412.
