The Ascension Parish school district has set up an online survey to get input from parish residents in the search for the system’s next schools superintendent.
The survey, which is anonymous, seeks to find what the public deems as the top 10 most desired characteristics in the district’s next superintendent. The School Board hopes to fill the position before July 1 that was left vacant by the retirement of Patrice Pujol.
The survey “will help create a position profile” to be used in local and national advertisements for the job opening, said Jackie Tisdell, spokeswoman for the school system.
When students return April 4 from spring break, printed copies of the survey will be available at the district’s schools for those who would like to mail the survey directly to Ray and Associates, the Iowa-based search firm hired by the School Board to find job candidates.
School Board members set a base salary for the new superintendent in the range of $185,000, which is approximately 12 percent higher than Pujol’s salary.
“We’re serious about a national search,” Board President Pat Russo said at the time.
The survey, which will be up until April 11, can be found on the district’s website at apsb.org/SuperintendentSearch.
The search firm’s address is Ray and Associates, 4403 First Ave. SE, Suite 407, Cedar Rapids, IA, 52402-3221.
The Ascension Parish school district has set up an email address, Superintendent.Search@apsb.org, which residents can use to provide input to School Board members on the search for the new superintendent.
