The Gonzales police are searching for a woman videotaped by surveillance cameras entering the offices of a local medical complex earlier this month and taking a debit card from an employee’s purse.

The person in the video also appears to be the same woman sought by the Baton Rouge Police Department in the theft of a wallet from Baton Rouge General Hospital, the Gonzales Police Department reported.

Both incidents happened on Feb. 2.

In Gonzales, the woman entered several offices, some of which aren’t open to the public, at St. Elizabeth Hospital’s Medical Plaza II on La. 30. Surveillance video shows her taking a debit card from someone’s purse. The suspect used the card 10 minutes later at Bath & Body Works at nearby Tanger Mall, the Police Department reported.

Baton Rouge police also are investigating the theft of a wallet from Baton Rouge General Hospital’s location off Bluebonnet Boulevard. The woman later made purchases with stolen credit cards of approximately $1,170, the Baton Rouge Police Department reported.

Anyone with information on the identify of the suspect is asked to call the Gonzales Police Department, (225) 647-9572, the Baton Rouge Police Financial Crimes Division, (225) 389-3871, or Crime Stoppers, (225) 344-7867.
