A Pierre Part man who drove to his ex-son-in-law’s home and beat him was arrested on a count of second-degree battery and was released on $10,000 bail, Assumption Parish sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday.

Ricky Aucoin Sr., 53, 318 S. Bay Road, Pierre Part, showed up at the ex-son-in-law’s Pierre Part home shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and got in a fight with him, deputies said in a news release.

Sheriff Mike Waguespack said Wednesday that some sort of emotional family situation built up and led to a “pretty ugly scene.”

The man whom Aucoin is accused of beating had cuts and scratches on his face and neck and deep cuts inside his lower lip, deputies said.

The man refused ambulance service but was taken to Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City by an individual, deputies said.

Aucoin was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Assumption Community Hospital in Napoleonville for evaluation before being taken to jail.

In addition to the second-degree battery count, Aucoin also was booked into the Assumption Parish Prison with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, deputies said.
