A Baton Rouge man was seriously injured Thursday evening in a hit-and-run crash on La. 70 west of La. 73 in Ascension Parish, State Police said.
The incident happened shortly before 11:45 p.m. when an unknown motorist drove westbound through a closed-off construction zone, said Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer, a State Police spokesman. The vehicle struck Frederick Mitchell, 38, who was treated at an area hospital, Sandifer said.
The unknown driver did not stop and continued traveling westbound toward Baton Rouge, Sandifer said.
Troopers believe the vehicle may have been a white or silver newer model Ford Mustang, which may have damage on the driver’s side. Investigators believe the driver was a white male, who had a white female passenger with him at the time of the crash, Sandifer said.
Troopers ask anyone with any information to contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at (225) 754-8500.
