A Gonzales man arrested Saturday is accused of going to the home of a woman he was dating, destroying some items when he couldn’t find her and, when she returned, striking her on the head with a pistol and threatening to kill her.

Christopher Hendricks, 23, 430 W. Minor St., Gonzales, went to the woman’s home and, not finding her there, destroyed items in her house, according to the Gonzales Police Department.

When the woman returned to the house, she tried to get Hendricks to calm down, but he struck her on the left side of her head with a pistol and threatened to shoot her before fleeing, police said.

Hendricks was later found by police officers hiding in the bathroom of a Gonzales barbershop.

He was booked into the Ascension Parish jail on one count each of aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, police said.

Bail has been set at $70,000.
