Gonzales police seek man in check fraud scheme _lowres

Gonzales police are looking for a man who made six company checks out to himself and cashed them in different municipalities, for a total of about $9,000, Detective Sgt. Steven Nethken, of the Gonzales Police Department, said.

Alton Francewar Jr., 34, whose last known address was 48414 Whiskey Lane, Tickfaw, cashed one check worth $980 in Gonzales, three worth a total of $6,315 in Hammond and two worth a total of $1,965 in Mandeville, Nethken said in a news release.

Francewar, who was identified from surveillance footage, is wanted on counts of bank fraud, forgery and theft, according to the report. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Gonzales Police Department at (225) 647-9572 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
