GONZALES — Ascension Parish authorities searched on Thursday for three men wanted in two unrelated armed robberies on South Sammy Avenue just outside of Gonzales.

A man was robbed at his residence early Wednesday morning, according to an Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office news release. Shots were fired during the robbery, though no one was injured, and neighbors called in the incident to authorities.

The robber was described by witnesses as a black male with a thin build, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with a white T-shirt over his face and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

In an unrelated case, a 72-year-old Gonzales man was held up at gunpoint by two males Wednesday night at his South Sammy Avenue residence. The victim, robbed of $900, received a minor blunt force trauma injury to his head.

Anyone with information involving the two incidents is asked to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 621-4636 or by texting 847411 to the department’s anonymous tip line, or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867. A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
