GONZALES — One woman was booked Saturday and another issued a summons in an investigation of possible drug dealing at a Gonzales hotel, the Gonzales Police Department said Monday.
Officers responded to a call from staff at the Best Western Hotel, 1818 W. La. 30, who had seen a high traffic flow of men at a second-floor hotel room and suspected prostitution, said Detective Sgt. Steven Nethken, with the Police Department.
Upon entering the room, paid for by Amanda Cascio, of Baton Rouge, officers found heroin, syringes and drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the Police Department.
Cascio, 29, 7334 Director Drive, Baton Rouge, was issued a summons to appear in court on one count of drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.
Trina Bentley, 32, 10399 Joe Jackson Road, Geismar, was booked into Ascension Parish Prison on one count of possession of heroin, one count of drug paraphernalia and one count of fugitive from another Louisiana jurisdiction, according to the news release. Bail has been set at $20,339; Bentley remained in jail as of late Monday.
The investigation is ongoing, Nethken said.
