DARROW — Railroad grade crossing repairs will force the shutdown of a section of La. 22 in southern Ascension Parish for five days starting at 8 a.m. Monday, parish officials said.

The crossing is west of the La. 22/La. 44 intersection, parish officials said in a news release.

Canadian National Railway Co. crews will repair and repave the crossing road surface, said Patrick Waldron, a spokesman for the railway.

The crossing is expected to reopen at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, parish officials said.

Traffic heading west will be detoured from La. 22, south to La. 44, west to La. 942 (River Road) and then to La. 22, parish officials said.

Traffic heading east will be detoured from La. 22 east to La. 942 north to La. 44 and then to La. 22.
