PRAIRIEVILLE — Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a person who made off with about $3,000 after breaking into the money machines at two car washes in Prairieville, Lt. Col Bobby Webre said.
The person, captured on video by surveillance cameras, broke into the kiosk machines at Platinum Express car wash and the Clean Team Auto Spa, both on La. 44 in Prairieville, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Nov. 1, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage to the machines, Webre said in a news release.
The Sheriff’s Office made an arrest earlier this month in a rash of car wash burglaries in the parish. Hubert Bourgeois, of Baton Rouge, was booked on eight counts of simple burglary in the break-ins at three car washes in the Prairieville and Gonzales areas.
However, Bourgeois is not a suspect in the most recent break-ins, Webre said. He was eliminated as a suspect because he’s still in Ascension Parish Prison, and the method used to break into the money machines is different, Webre said.
Anyone with information on the most recent incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (225) 621-4636, text 847411 or call Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
