GONZALES — Police are looking for two men spotted on surveillance video stealing more than $15,000 in steel from a Gonzales industrial complex, police said Wednesday.

The thieves took stainless steel piping and flat plate steel from a business in broad daylight during a three-day period in late May using different types of vehicles, police said in a news release.

After investigators identified one of the men as Joseph Lee Landry, 45, the Police Department issued a felony warrant for Landry’s arrest on one count of theft in excess of $1,500.

Detective Sgt. Steven Nethken said Wednesday that Landry’s last known address was in Gonzales, but he is believed to be residing in Baton Rouge.

Landry’s accomplice remains unidentified, Nethken said.

The detective said the accomplice can been seen in a video still from May 28 provided by police of two men next to a pickup with piping in the truck bed at the company’s lay down yard.

Employees of the company hit by the robbers, Steam and Process of Gonzales, did not recognize either man, Nethken said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Landry or the identity of his accomplice is asked to call the Gonzales Police Department at (225) 647-9536 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
