NAPOLEONVILLE — Widespread power outages remained Wednesday afternoon in Assumption Parish and Napoleonville Primary School will be closed for a third day on Thursday, parish officials said.
All other public schools in the parish reopened Wednesday after two of the five tornadoes spawned by a severe storm front in Louisiana on Monday touched down in Assumption.
Napoleonville had one of those tornadoes and several power poles feeding Napoleonville Primary were knocked down or had downed lines.
Entergy had crews on the ground Wednesday working to restore power to the parish, Assumption Parish officials said in a news release.
The parish transfer site on Ezekiel Street in Bertrandville will be open through the weekend from 7 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to handle storm debris. Vegetation and construction debris should be separated, parish officials said.
