Two people were shot multiple times but are expected to survive after separate overnight shootings early Friday morning, Baton Rouge police said.
A police spokesman said officers don’t have suspects in either shooting but both incidents remain under investigation.
A 23-year-old man was shot twice in his leg shortly before 2:26 a.m. while he sat on the front porch of his home in the 5100 block of Sherwood Street just east of North Foster Drive, police said.
Corporal L’Jean McKneely, police spokesman, said the man told officers he heard the gun shots, looked left and saw men who were shooting at him.
McKneely said officers found five shell casing from a handgun in the front yard of the home next door.
He said the man could not identify the shooter and officers have not identified a suspect.
“He doesn’t know nor do we,” McKneely said.
Meanwhile, about an hour and half earlier, a 31-year-old woman was shot four times while on the 11000 block of Red Oak Drive just north of Florida Boulevard, McKneely said.
She was hit once in the shoulder and arm and twice in the mid-section about 1 a.m. Friday and was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, McKneely said.
She was rushed into surgery before officers could speak with her, McKneely said.
