GEISMAR — The Illinois Central/Canadian National railroad crossing at La. 73 in Ascension Parish will be closed a bit more than four days starting early Tuesday, state highway officials said.
Crews will be working on the grade crossing until 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, when it is expected to be reopened, officials with the state Department of Transportation and Development said in a news release.
The section of highway goes through a heavily industrialized area along the Mississippi River in east Ascension.
For alternative routes, DOTD officials recommend La. 30 and La. 75, which is River Road in this area.
