PRAIRIEVILLE - Narcotics agents arrested a man accused of cultivating 49 marijuana plants inside the attic of his home off Swamp Road, Louisiana State Police reported Wednesday.
Officers with State Police, the Gonzales Police Department, the Ascension Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration searched the home of Albert Carroll, 47, on Tuesday at 36365 Desoto St., Prairieville, troopers said in a news release.
Agents found the marijuana plants, three firearms and equipment used to grow marijuana indoors, troopers said.
The marijuana plants were discovered in a 12-by-12-foot room accessible through a hidden stairwell built into a bedroom, troopers said.
The estimated street value of the seized marijuana plants is approximately $49,000. Each plant potentially can produce about one pound of marketable marijuana, troopers said.
Troopers said they booked Carroll into Ascension Parish Prison in Donaldsonville on counts of cultivation of marijuana, possession of a firearm with marijuana and simple possession of marijuana.
