NAPOLEONVILLE — A Napoleonville man who skipped a court date on a drug distribution count has been brought back to the parish from Indiana, the Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Kentrell T. Sanders, 30, 314 College St., was arrested on a crack cocaine distribution count in January, sheriff’s deputies said in a news release Tuesday.
Sanders had been set for jury trial in Napoleonville on May 26, but did not show up, deputies said.
Sheriff’s deputies in Elkhart County, Ind., arrested Sanders on June 20 after a traffic stop and booked him on counts of marijuana possession and resisting a law enforcement officer, Assumption deputies said.
Sanders later waived extradition, deputies said.
Sheriff Mike Waguespack said Assumption jail officials traveled to Elkhart on Monday and brought Sanders to the parish Detention Center later that night.
Waguespack said a court hearing is scheduled next month to set a new trial date.
