When Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies went to a Gonzales home Friday, they found marijuana, a handgun, several juveniles and four men — two of whom admitted to having sex with the juveniles, Maj. Kevin Hanna said.

Officers with the sheriff’s narcotic and juvenile division went to the home of Jose Josh Hernandez, 36, with a search warrant after receiving a tip about drug activity involving minors, Hanna said.

Marijuana, the handgun and drug paraphernalia were found in Hernandez’s possession, and he and his roommate and cousin Simeon Hernandez, 25, admitted to detectives that they had sex with the juveniles, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

While deputies were searching Hernandez’s house, Tevrion Carter, 23, arrived.

Detectives said Carter was Hernandez’s “drug supplier,” according to the news release.

“Carter attempted to deliver marijuana to Jose while detectives were conducting the search warrant,” according to the news release.

Carter fled in his vehicle, but was captured when he lost control of it at the intersection of La. 429 and Roddy Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Another man, Adam Hopp, 36, also arrived at the house during the search, and deputies arrested him when a smoking device that contained marijuana was found in his possession. He had two girls who were deemed minors with him and they were released to their guardians, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The four men were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on the following counts:

Jose Hernandez, 11129 Martin Road, Gonzales, was booked on three counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, possession of marijuana, distribution of marijuana to persons under 18, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia.
