Two Ascension Parish men were arrested Monday on drug-related counts after a Crime Stoppers tip led deputies to one of the men, according to Maj. Kevin Hanna, of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives investigating a tip on Monday found JoMichael Taylor, 24, of 18095 Little Prairie Road, Prairieville, at a home in St. Amant, Hanna said in a news release.

Detectives arrested Taylor, wanted on previous felony drug charges, and after getting a search warrant for the home, found marijuana, a shotgun and the prescription medicines Promethazine and Xanax, Hanna said.

Taylor was booked into Ascension Parish Prison on counts of distribution of a legend drug without a prescription, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, several counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, two counts drug paraphernalia, two counts illegal carrying of weapons and a count of resisting an officer, the Sheriff’s Office report said.

Taylor’s bail was set at $175,000, and he remained in jail late Wednesday afternoon.

Another man in the house with Taylor was arrested at the same time.

Jeremy Saltzman, 20, of 43479 Oak Lane, Gonzales, was arrested on counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, drug paraphernalia and illegal carrying of weapons, the Sheriff’s Office said.

He was released after posting $30,000 bail.
