A Gonzales man who failed to register as a sex offender was arrested Friday, ending a two-month investigation.
Detectives received a tip from Crime Stoppers that Brian Chadwick, 30, was living in Ascension Parish and had failed to register, an Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office news release says.
Chadwick was sentenced in May 2014 to five years of probation in a drug case, and detectives recently conducted surveillance on his home after they were told he might have been selling drugs out of the residence. No drugs were found, but the detectives told Chadwick he needed to register, after which he surrendered to authorities, the release says.
Chadwick was previously convicted of sexual battery in August 2006 in Virginia.
Chadwick, 38045 Tupelo St., was booked into Ascension Parish Jail on a count of failure to register as a sex offender and probation violation. No bail has been set.
