LEMANNVILLE — Temporary lane closures are planned this week and next week to make way for inspections of Mississippi River bridges in St. James Parish, state highway officials said Wednesday.
The Veterans Memorial and Sunshine bridges will have room for most traffic through inspection zones but will force detours for oversized vehicles, state highway officials said in a news release.
A planned closure on the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Gramercy set for Wednesday was moved to Thursday, Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development officials said.
The outside northbound lane of La. 3213 as it crosses over the bridge will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, officials said.
Vehicles wider than 12 feet are asked to detour to the Sunshine Bridge near Lemannville, via La. 3127, La. 70 and La. 3125, officials said.
Next week, the outside north- and southbound lanes of La. 70 as it crosses over the Sunshine Bridge will be closed, officials said.
The northbound lane of La. 70 will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, officials said.
The southbound lane will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and July 28.
Vehicles wider than 11 feet must detour around the inspection zone to Veterans Memorial Bridge, state highway officials said
Oversized vehicles should take La. 3127, La 3213 and La. 3125, or the reverse course, depending whether the closure is on the north- or southbound lane, state highway officials said.
