Gonzales police officers continued to search Friday evening for a man seen hitting another man in the head with a pistol in a Gonzales bar parking lot earlier this month.

The alleged attacker, Adrian Melo Salas, 24, 309 E. Verna St., Gonzales, is wanted on counts of aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and possession of a firearm on the premises of an alcohol beverage outlet, officers said in a news release Friday.

Charlotte Guedry, police spokeswoman, said Friday the victim did not know what prompted the attack at the Junction 44 bar on Burnside Avenue shortly after midnight Nov. 9. She said the incident, which witnesses saw, did not involve a robbery.

“It was just a very violent attack on an individual,” Guedry said.

Police officers said Salas used a black, semi-automatic pistol, which police later recovered.

The investigation is ongoing and more counts may be pending once Salas is found, police said.

Anyone with information on Salas’ whereabouts should call police at (225) 647-9572 or email to gonzalespdpress@gonzalespd.org.
