Police search for woman accused in theft of sister’s income tax refund _lowres

Police are looking for a woman in the theft of her sister’s preloaded bank card containing her federal income tax refund of more than $1,700.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Myrtle Lavinia Brown, 40, for felony identity theft and unauthorized use of an access card after Brown intercepted her sister’s mail in March and stole the bank card, according to a Gonzales Police Department news release.

After a lengthy investigation, Brown was identified from ATM video surveillance footage, police said. Brown spent the money on her sister’s card over five consecutive days in March, mainly at ATMs and casinos, police said.
