The Baton Rouge man whose pickup was struck by a train in Gonzales on Monday is in critical condition, a Gonzales Police Department spokesperson said Tuesday.
Shortly before 7 a.m. Monday, Harry White, 38, was driving east on Felix Street when he crossed the railroad tracks. His Chevrolet truck was hit by an oncoming train.
White was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center with moderate to serious injuries. On Tuesday, his status was changed to critical, Charlotte Guedry, public information officer for the Gonzales police, said in a news release.
The police department is still investigating the incident.
The Kansas City Southern Railway Co. also is investigating the crash, said C. Doniele Carlson, with the rail company’s corporate communications.
