DONALDSONVILLE — A Donaldsonville man convicted of forcible rape nearly two decades ago and accused of failing to register as a sex offender in Ascension Parish surrendered Saturday morning.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Dave Alexander, 51, 205 Bourg St., Lot 2, after he turned himself in at the Ascension Parish jail. No bond has been set yet.
Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said Friday that Alexander was last seen by family members and his most recent employer on Aug. 30.
Alexander is a tier III sex offender, Bacala said, a category reserved for the most serious sex offenses. That category means that Alexander must register for life, the Louisiana State Police website says.
Alexander was convicted in May 2010 for failing to register as a sex offender but was released from prison in November 2010, the state sex offender website says.
Alexander was convicted in April 1997 of the forcible rape charge and served a little more than three years in prison before his release in June 2000, the sex offender website says.
