Ascension deputies: Baton Rouge man confesses to string of car wash burglaries _lowres

Deputies arrested a Baton Rouge man Sunday night who confessed to multiple robberies of carwashes in the parish, including the one authorities found him at in Galvez, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Hubert Bourgeois, 53, 902 Europe St., was arrested Sunday by deputies after they received a call about a possible burglary at the Galvez Carwash.

When deputies arrived, they found Bourgeois still at the business with an electric grinder and grinding disks he used to break into the carwash’s money machines, Lt. Col. Bobby Webre said in a news release.

Bourgeois is also a person of interest in the burglary of several carwashes in East Baton Rouge Parish, Webre said.

Bourgeois told deputies he burglarized three Ascension Parish carwashes multiple times, the AAA Carwash in Prairieville and the Bay Wash and Sail Away carwashes in Gonzales, the Sheriff’s Office report said.

Bourgeois was booked into Ascension Parish Prison near Donaldsonville on eight counts of criminal trespassing, eight counts of simple criminal damage to property, eight counts of simple burglary, illegal carrying of weapons and drug paraphernalia prohibited acts.
