BELLE ROSE — Assumption Parish sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying two masked men who committed a Sunday night home-invasion robbery, the Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday.

A 22-year-old victim told deputies the intruders, who had firearms, were hiding in his residence on Freetown Lane in Belle Rose and attacked him after he returned home, deputies said in a news release.

The alleged victim called deputies at 8:56 p.m. Sunday after the attack happened.

The alleged victim and the intruders struggled, leaving the victim with a stab wound in an upper arm, deputies said.

The robbers bound the victim with duct and electrical tape and demanded his cash, deputies said. Although the victim gave the pair $400, the robbers also ransacked the residence, taking the victim’s cellphone, several pairs of shoes and some clothing, deputies said.

After the man freed himself, he went to a relative’s house nearby, called the Sheriff’s Office, was treated for his injuries at Prevost Memorial Hospital in Donaldsonville, then released, deputies said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Assumption Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at (985) 526-1627 or (985) 369-2912.
