A Barataria man was arrested after an Assumption Parish grand jury indicted him on three counts of molestation of a juvenile, said Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack.

Samuel Gonzales Jr., 46, of 4991 Kaylee Lane, was booked Thursday into the Assumption Parish Detention Center, Waguespack said in a report. Bail has been set at $300,000.

The arrest grew out of an investigation that began when the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint in December about a juvenile being sexually abused.

The abuse is reported to have occurred between 1999 and 2008 and involved three juveniles, the Sheriff’s Office report says.

The grand jury returned the indictments on Wednesday.

This is an ongoing investigation, and Detective Sgt. Donald Calamia is the lead investigator. Anyone with information on this case or others can contact the Criminal Investigative Division at (985) 526-1627 or the Communications Division at (985) 369-2912.
