A 16-year-old boy who worked at a Tanger Outlet Mall store was booked Saturday on a count of video voyeurism after a shopper discovered his cellphone hidden in her dressing room, the Gonzales Police Department said Monday.

The woman called police and reported that she found a cellphone hidden under a chair in the corner of a dressing room she had used in the Reebok store at the shopping center, police said in a news release.

Police discovered the cellphone belonged to the teenage employee of the store after they viewed the video. The teen told the woman he needed to first clear the dressing room before she could use it, then videotaped himself as he placed the cellphone — with the phone’s camera set on “record” — under the chair in the room, according to the release.

The teen was booked into the Assumption Parish Youth Detention Center in Napoleonville, where he remained Monday afternoon, according to the Gonzales Police Department.
