VETERANS SERVICE CENTER: The University of New Orleans held a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 25 for a Veterans Service Center on the first floor of the Earl K. Long Library. Students who are military veterans can find administrative assistance and peer camaraderie at the center. Miguel Olivero, president of the UNO Collegiate Veterans Association, initiated the service center project.
ULM GRADUATES: These students from Orleans Parish graduated with bachelor's degrees May 13 from the University of Louisiana at Monroe: Christian Addison Cowart, business administration; Leanna Rosean Gray, psychology; Willneisha Jontie Hutchinson, biology; Gregory Jacob III, communication; Ebony Brieon Lee, criminal justice; Bich Thi Mai, dental hygiene; Kellie Tuyet-Nhat Pham, dental hygiene, cum laude; and Jennifer Thao Tran, dental hygiene.
ULM ACADEMIC HONORS: These students from Orleans Parish have been named to the spring 2017 president's and dean's lists at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Eligibility for the president's list requires a GPA of 3.9 or more for 12 semester hours, and eligibility for the dean's list requires a GPA of 3.5 or more for 12 semester hours. Christian Cowart, Bich Mai and Kellie Pham were named to the president’s list, and Chase St. Clair and Jennifer Tran were named to the dean’s list.
MOTOR VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY: Through a new partnership with NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, the motor vehicle technology program at Delgado Community College will combine classroom lectures with hands-on intensive training at NOLA Motorsports Park. Students will be able to apply their Delgado-acquired skills to hands-on projects using NOLA Motorsports' state-of-the-art facilities, vehicles and industry technology.
