St. Mary's Dominican High School Debs captured several state wins at the American All-Star Louisiana State Dance Competition held Jan. 13-14 in Lafayette. The Debs were set to travel to Florida for Universal Dance Association national competition Feb. 3 in Disney World. The Debs' coach is Fran Moran and their moderator is Sina Baldwin.

Among the nine soloists chosen as finalists were Maddie McGovern, second place overall in the senior high division; Rylie McClusky, second place overall in the junior high school division; and Kagelin Obletz, second place overall in the junior high division.

In the duet division, Deb captains Maddie McGovern and Virginia Babin competed and tied for first place; following a tiebreaker rule, they received second place.

In the ensemble division, made up of groups of three to 10 girls, the Debs earned second place in hip-hop and fourth place in jazz.

In the team division, the Debs earned first place in Division III, second place overall state, the Choreography Award and the Technique Award. In pom, the Debs were first in Division III and second overall in the state. In jazz, the Debs were second in Division III and third overall in the state.
