High school students on the West Bank will have an opportunity to meet with area college representatives during “College Day at the Library,” planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the West Bank Regional Library, 2751 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey.
The free event begins with a panel discussion that will focus on admission requirements; availability of campus tours; online applications versus paper applications; application deadlines; popular majors; internship opportunities; types of campus housing; and financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
Admission representatives from schools including Delgado Community College, LSU, Louisiana Tech University, Millsaps College, Nicholls State University, Our Lady of Holy Cross College, Southeastern Louisiana University, University of South Alabama and the University of Southern Mississippi will be available to talk with prospective students.

Social work teacher honored
Congratulations to Sol Gothard, of Metairie, who recently was inducted into the Hall of Achievement of the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University, where he earned his master’s degree in social work.
The Hall of Achievement honors those who have made an impact on the school and field of social work. Gothard previously was honored by the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences as alumnus of the year. He also is a people’s health champion, sponsored by People’s Health Insurance Co.; is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Organization of Forensic Social Work; and was named a social work pioneer by the Foundation of the National Association of Social Work.
Gothard is an adjutant professor of social work and law at the Tulane University School of Social Work. He is a retired judge from the state 5th Circuit Court of Appeal and serves as commander of the Jules Lazard Post 580 in New Orleans, Jewish War Veterans of America.
Sacred Heart reunion
Graduates of the 1966 class of Sacred Heart of Jesus High School, 3200 Canal St., New Orleans, will celebrate their 50th reunion from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 9 at Cello’s Restaurant, 3401 N. Hullen St., Metairie.
