Kenner Mayor Mike Yenni amassed more than double in campaign contributions than Jefferson Parish Councilman Elton Lagasse had with a little more than three months left in their race to become the next parish president.
Yenni raised $182,400 to finish the three-month period ending July 16 with $212,166 in his campaign coffers, recently-released finance reports showed. Lagasse had $78,900 at the end of the period after raising $76,020.
Yenni also held an advantage in spending over his opponent in the Oct. 24 primary, but it was much less pronounced. During the three-month period ending July 16, the Kenner mayor spent $99,038, and Lagasse spent $93,966, their finance reports showed.
Yenni has been Kenner’s mayor since 2010. Lagasse is a three-term Parish Council member.
They are running to succeed Parish President John Young, who is not seeking re-election but is instead campaigning for lieutenant governor.
