The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested one man in connection with a murder that occurred Monday evening, and the agency is searching for two other suspects in the killing who are at large.

Charley George, 28, was jailed Thursday on a count of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Chad Miller, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Col. John Fortunato said Friday. Detectives probing Miller’s death also obtained warrants to arrest David Foster, 17, and Jeremy “Jay” Ratliff, 20, both of New Orleans, on counts of second-degree murder, but attempts to find them had been unsuccessful late Friday afternoon, Fortunato said.

Miller had been shot multiple times and was found lying in front of his apartment in the 4100 block of Lac Bienville Drive about 6:20 p.m. Monday, the Sheriff’s Office said. Paramedics called out to the scene took Miller to Ochsner West Bank hospital for treatment, but he died there.

The Sheriff’s Office said detectives recovered at least four shell casings from two different weapons on Monday night.

It was not immediately known what information investigators have that links George, Foster and Ratliff to Miller’s slaying, though Fortunato said “it is believed that drugs may have played a role.”

If eventually convicted of murder, the three suspects would face a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.

Anyone with information about Ratliff’s and Foster’s whereabouts can contact the Sheriff’s Office at 504.364.5300 or Crimestoppers at 504.822.1111.

Update, 11:40 p.m., Friday: The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said David Foster surrendered to a detective late Friday. Jeremy Ratliff remains at large.
