Former Kenner Police official Mike Sigur had a lead for Kenner’s District 2 seat after early voting results rolled in Saturday night.
Sigur took 73 votes in early voting, or about 51 percent of the total votes cast. He was follwed by Bill Schwertz, who received 31 votes, and Ronnie Yenni, who received 38.
Despite the presence of Yenni, a second cousin of Mayor Mike Yenni, in the race, Sigur has been seen as the mayor’s preference for the seat. The mayor himself and his perceived allies in the council’s District 5 and at-large races also held leads in early voting results.
