Grand Isle Mayor David Carmardelle has issued a mandatory evacuation order in the run up to Tropical Storm Karen. The order goes into effect at 11 a.m.

The town has also ordered that any campers or recreational vehicles be removed from the island before the storm blows through the area. In the lead up to the storm, a dawn-to-dusk curfew will also be in place, according to town officials.

Officials are also warning residents to leave early, as evacuation routes through Lafourche Parish may be closed if the roads are covered in water during the storm.
