Jefferson Parish School Board member Larry Dale maintained a strong lead over Meladie Munch, the president of the Jefferson Federation of Teachers, as results poured in Tuesday night.
With 27 out of 30 precincts reporting, Dale had almost 56 percent of the vote. A total of 6,169 voters cast ballots for him, 1,316 votes more than Munch. The race between Dale and Munch has been seen as emblematic of the larger fight between the Jefferson Federation of Teachers and the business-backed majority on the school board, which includes Dale.
