Former Harahan City Councilman Tim Walker led the pack in the race for Harahan Police Chief as early voting results came in Saturday night.

With only early votes reported as of 8:25 p.m., Walker had 85 votes, or about 45 percent of the total cast. He was followed by former Police Chief Peter Dale with 46 votes and former assistant Police Chief Al Majeau with 43 votes.

Darlene Schwartz, the department’s former community policing officer, had 14 votes.

A proposed 6 mill property tax that would help fund the police department did not fare well in early voting, with 101 people casting ballots against it while 86 supported it.
