Dominick Impastato was elected to the District 5 seat on the Kenner City Council Saturday, handily defeating his opponent, former mayor and councilman Phil Capitano.

Impastato, an attorney with the support of Mayor Mike Yenni, got 68 percent of the vote to Capitano’s 32 percent.

Impastato got 1,733 votes to Capitano’s 823 votes, with all six precincts reporting.
