Former Harahan City Councilman Tim Walker and former Police Chief Peter Dale are headed into a run-off to run the city’s police department, according to the Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court’s Office.
With all precincts reporting, Walker had 1,058 votes, or 40.44 percent of the total, while Dale had 760 votes, or 29 percent of the total. The frontrunners were followed by Al Majeau, the former assistant police chief, with 23.4 percent and Darlene Schwartz, the former community policing officer, with 7 percent. Walker and Dale will now face off in a May 3 run-off to fill the remainder of former Chief Mac Dickinson’s term, which goes until the end of the year. Dickinson left the Harahan Police Department last year to take a position with Louisiana State Police.
