One of the less-prominent candidates in the Oct. 24 primary for the Jefferson Parish presidency has quit the race.

Joseph Larocca, a 61-year-old Republican from Kenner, withdrew from voters’ consideration, Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office records show. He had signed up for the race last week.

The withdrawal leaves five candidates: Parish Councilman Elton Lagasse, Kenner Mayor Mike Yenni, Robin Daldegan Christiana, Vincent De Salvo Jr. and Al Morella.

Meanwhile, in St. Bernard Parish, one of three candidates who signed up to run for the District B Parish Council seat has quit that race. Paul Molinary’s withdrawal leaves incumbent Nathan Gorbaty and challenger Joe Oster as candidates in that election.
