A property code sweep in Marrero last week produced 41 citations for violations, Jefferson Parish officials said Tuesday.
The citations handed out during Thursday’s sweep were for structures in disrepair, high grass and weeds, and inoperable vehicles, the parish said. Five cars were tagged for removal, and Cox Communications — who joined in on the sweep — found 15 unauthorized cable connections.
The parish’s Department of Property Maintenance Zoning Quality of Life conducted the code sweep on 4th Street, Ames Boulevard, Eiseman Avenue, Field Street and Pine Street.
These sweeps are meant to ensure compliance with parish property regulations. They are meant to reduce the number of abandoned and blighted structures in the parish, which in theory should result in improved safety for residents and visitors.
