A lawsuit alleging that voters in wheelchairs faced too many obstacles at their precincts has resulted in the relocation of more than two dozen polling places in Jefferson Parish beginning with the Oct. 24 primary.
The precinct changes affect parish voters on both sides of the Mississippi River.
Kenner resident Denise Drake, who suffers from a debilitating neurological disease, filed the suit that resulted in the precinct changes. The new polling sites fully comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act, officials said.
