In a repeat of the 2010 election, Sandy Denapolis-Bosarge once again defeated Gene Katsanis in a race for the Jefferson Parish School Board’s District 9 seat Tuesday night.

This year’s race was a mirror image of four years ago, when Denapolis-Bosarge challenged Katsanis, then the incumbent, for the seat.

On Tuesday, Denapolis-Bosarge - a former registered nurse - took about 55.5 percent of the vote. About 5,897 voters cast ballots for her, compared to about 4,722 who voted for Katsanis.

Denapolis-Bosarge had been backed by the parish’s business groups while Katsanis had the support of the Jefferson Federation of Teachers.
