This weekend, the city of Kenner will sponsor “Christmas in July,” a new event to give area residents a chance to get a jump start on their holiday shopping. The inaugural event will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday in Rivertown’s Heritage Park. There will be crafts vendors offering unique gift options.
According to Bob Ross, the city’s public information officer, there is also “a 100 percent chance of ‘snow” at the event.
Beginning at 6 p.m., a laser holiday show can be seen for $2 per person just down the street at the Kenner Planetarium and Megadome Cinema.
A free showing of the movie “Elf” will be at 8 p.m. on a 25-foot outdoor movie screen. Pets and outside food are not allowed. Food and refreshments will be on sale throughout the evening.
