Washington — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded $5.6 million to Louisiana to protect against flood and wind damage in Jefferson and Terrebonne parishes.

The money is split evenly between the two parishes.

In Jefferson, the award covers wind protection for police and fire departments. In Terrebonne, it will elevate properties above flood levels.
