The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway reopened in both directions shortly after noon on Monday as heavy weather moved out of the area.
In the Slidell area, lightning struck a house at 309 Highland Bluff Drive. Firefighters from St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 arrived on the scene to find light smoke coming from the attic, spokesman Chad Duffaut said. They also found scorched wood and some melted wires. No visible flame was found, and crews used a fire extinguisher to cool down a small piece of wood, Duffaut said.
CLECO reported 90 outages in St. Tammany Parish; 20 in Madisonville, one in Pearl River and a number of others in eastern St. Tammany, according to company’s website.
