RUN WITH THE WOLVES: The St. Paul’s Christmas 5K and 1-mile runs will be Dec. 6 in Covington. The 1-mile event will begin at 8 a.m. and the 5K will follow at 8:30 a.m. Cash awards will be presented in the 5K. Both courses will be in scenic old Covington, with Santa leading the 1-mile race and the 5K ending on the St. Paul’s track. Additional handmade awards will be presented. PJP CLASSIC: The sixth annual Pope John Paul II Catholic High School Jaguar Athletics Golf Classic will be Nov. 1 at Pinewood Country Club in Slidell. BIRDWATCH AT FAIRVIEW: An introduction to birding will be Nov. 8 at Fairview-Riverside State Park near Madisonville. The event, which will begin at 9 a.m., will feature a short presentation on survival adaptations for various species. A hike through the park will follow with a ranger identifying birds common to the area. Guests with binoculars or a field guide are asked to bring them. The hike should be approximately 1 mile.
