As expected, incumbent St. Tammany Parish President Pat Brister easily fended off three challengers in Saturday’s election, earning 71 percent of approximately 58,000 votes cast, according to the Secretary of State’s website.

Brister defeated Karen Champagne, who earned 17 percent of the vote, Kevin Coleman, who got six percent and Margie Vicknair-Pray, who got five percent.

Champagne ran on a conservative, Tea-Party platform, while Coleman and Vicknair-Pray both ran as anti-fracking candidates.
