Warren Montgomery showed early strength in St. Tammany Parish, where he is running for 22nd Judicial District Attorney in a field of four candidates.

With early ballots from St. Tammany still out of the tally, Montgomery captured 512 votes in four of 158 precincts; he was followed by Brian Trainor, with 438 votes in St. Tammany. Roy Burns had 393 of the votes from his home parish and Alan Black had 129.

But Black was still leading the pack in early returns due to strength in Washington Parish, where he led strongly in early voting and in the first couple of precincts counted.

Black had 1,451 total votes, followed by Trainor with 1,346. Burns and Montgomery were neck and neck with 958 votes and 946 votes respectively.
